Hi, I’m Merritt. Integrative systems psychotherapist and nature-based wellness practitioner.
My mission is to help move you toward wholeness.
WHAT I DO
I am an integrative women’s therapist in private practice specializing in high sensitivity, perinatal and menopausal mental health, grief and loss, major life transitions, coping with the climate crisis, nature connection and spiritual exploration.
My foundational clinical training involved promoting positive parent-child attachment outcomes and encouraging reflective parenting through the application of Minding the Baby™, an interdisciplinary program developed by the Yale Child Study Center and Yale School of Nursing. I have also facilitated individual and couples psychotherapy, and have extensive training in various Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) modalities, as well as training in psychodynamic therapy, perinatal mood disorders, somatic psychology, stress management, ecotherapy, and mindfulness.
My work in maternal mental health led me to see the parallels between how we treat women, and our treatment of our ultimate caregiver, Mother Earth. As a mother myself, I became increasingly concerned about the climate and planetary crisis. Bridging the planetary crisis with psychology, I served as a founding co-president of the Climate Psychology Alliance North America for several years, and was appointed as a member of the 2021-2022 American Psychological Association’s Task Force on Climate Change. I presented various workshops on attachment and climate psychology, facilitated reflective Climate Cafes for others to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences related to our planetary health crisis, and have taught classes on the psychological aspects of the planetary health crisis.

As soon as I stopped blocking the possibility in my life, everything opened up and I felt freedom again
Having survived multiple losses in my own life, I understand the impact of grief and loss on one’s life.
I now help women find purpose and meaning through connectedness.
Whether it’s through psychotherapy or wellness practices, I help women connect to their true essence and deepen their relationship to the self and the world around them. Building on insights from my training in maternal mental health, I turned to ecopsychology, embarking on an immersive journey into understanding the intricate relationship between the human psyche, the ecosystems in which we live, and a connection to something greater than ourselves. To be whole is to integrate all of life with all that we are. We are byproducts of our relationships, including relationships to other humans, as well as the other-than-human world. My passion and commitment to understanding the human experience led me to become a systems-based women’s psychotherapist, integrative facilitator, and life transition guide. I specialize in harnessing the transformative powers of nature and its profound impact on mental wellness.

Our world is undergoing profound change. Just as nature shifts and evolves, so too do our lives. Amidst the transitions, we often feel unanchored—detached from ourselves, our loved ones, and even the Earth we call home.
