Morning journal prompts to reset your nervous system

Expressing ourselves is one of the best ways to deal with overwhelming emotions.  Journaling can be a helpful tool for expressing ourselves privately without the fear of being judged or punished.  Writing as a stream of conscious can help you identify, process and make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors, thereby allowing for a deeper understanding of the self.  Getting to know oneself in this way can ultimately improve overall mental health and wellbeing.  Although finding a time to write can be challenging, the morning is a great time because it can be easier to write when you’re not tired.  If you’re not a morning person,  however, journaling at night can be equally beneficial.  Whether you choose to write in the morning or evening, journaling can help you cope with life’s difficulties, get to know yourself, and help you stay on track in terms of meeting your goals.  I’ve written a list of potential journal prompts for you to get started below.

  4. WHAT MEMORY FROM YESTERDAY MADE AN IMPRESSION ON YOU?

  5. WHAT ELEMENTS DO YOU NOTICE IN THE LANDSCAPE TODAY?

  6. WHAT FEELINGS DOES THE NATURAL LANDSCAPE EVOKE IN YOU?

  7. WHAT FEELINGS DOES THE WEATHER EVOKE IN YOU?

  8. TODAY, I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE …

  9. ONE PERSON I AM THINKING OF IS …
